RESEARCH

Over the years the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary has taken part in a number of studies such as testing electric fences and interns have conducted their own studies on bear scat. We also contribute to the DNR annual berry count, and have we partnered with the MN DNR for a radio collaring programme on several of the bears.

The sanctuary offers a multitude of possibilities for study. With bears visiting throughout the season, mothers and cubs, and males that return year after year – there are research opportunities for observational, behavioral, genetic and camera trapping studies.

If you or your facility is interested in conducting a research project at the sanctuary, please send an enquiry to bears@americanbear.org.
