Birds of Northern Minnesota |
||
|
The Northwoods of Minnesota is home to 100 or more different species of birds, some of which are seen only during the summer, and others which are seen during the other seasons of the year. On this page, we have images of 40 of the birds that you would be most likely to see when you visit the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary, with their common and scientific names. On our Bird Checklist Page, the names of the birds are listed, with a space for you to write the date you sighted that bird. If you wish, you can print this list out and bring it with you when you visit the VSWS. For detailed information about these and other bird species, we recommend the Peterson or Audubon Bird Guides, available at any bookstore. There is also a website (www.enature.com) that has a search feature, allowing you to put in a location and see a local field guide for the region. If you live in bear country and want to feed birds, you can find a design for hanging feeders out of the reach of bears by clicking here. |
